30px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\">\r\nIl grandit dans le sud de la Californie,\r\nallant \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9cole \u00e0 Claremont en tant que boursier. Il est\r\ndipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de la Webb School en 1987 et \u00e9tudie \u00e0 l'Universit\u00e9 de\r\nChicago, o\u00f9 il devient r\u00e9dacteur en chef du Chicago Maroon et\r\nobtient une licence en philosophie en 1991. Il retourne en\r\nCalifornie, o\u00f9 il devient critique de cin\u00e9ma et plus tard \r\nchroniqueur pour le Fresno Bee. En 1996, il d\u00e9m\u00e9nage \u00e0 Washington\r\npour travailler chez AOL en tant que r\u00e9dacteur en chef. En 1998,\r\nlicenci\u00e9 par AOL, il devient \u00e9crivain ind\u00e9pendant \u00e0 temps plein,\r\ntravaillant pour des entreprises, en plus de r\u00e9viser et d'\u00e9crire\r\ndes \u0153uvres de fiction. <\/p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 30px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\">\r\nD\u00e9cid\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9crire dans un de ses deux genres pr\u00e9f\u00e9r\u00e9s, la \r\nscience-fiction et le policier, il fait son choix en jouant \u00e0 pile \r\nou face. Sa premi\u00e8re nouvelle de science-fiction publi\u00e9e, <i>Alien Animal \r\nEncounters<\/i>, para\u00eet en 2001 dans <i>Strange Horizons<\/i>. <\/p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 30px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\">\r\nSon premier roman de science-fiction, <i>Impr\u00e9sario du 3\u00e8me Type<\/i>, est \r\npropos\u00e9 en partagiciel sur son site web en 1999, et n\u2019est publi\u00e9 \r\nqu\u2019en juillet 2005. Le deuxi\u00e8me, <i>Le Vieil homme et la guerre<\/i>, appara\u00eet \r\nen 2002 sur son site. Patrick Nielsen Hayden le lit et l\u2019ach\u00e8te pour \r\nTor qui le publie en janvier 2005. Ce roman lui vaut le prix John W. \r\nCampbell du meilleur nouvel \u00e9crivain en 2006.
