Plus tard, lors de ses \u00e9tudes sup\u00e9rieurs,\r\nelle se rend au N\u00e9pal pour un semestre dans le cadre d\u2019un\r\nprogramme d'\u00e9tudes \u00e0 l'\u00e9tranger.<\/p>\r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 30px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\">\r\nElle \u00e9crit de la science-fiction et de la fantasy \r\ndepuis une vingtaine d\u2019ann\u00e9es. \u00c0 15 ans, elle propose sa\r\npremi\u00e8re histoire \u00e0 Marion Zimmer Bradley, pour sa s\u00e9rie\r\nd\u2019anthologies <i>Sword and Sorceress<\/i>, mais le r\u00e9cit est rejet\u00e9.\r\nInterrog\u00e9e par Andrea Johnson, elle reconna\u00eet encore aujourd'hui\r\nl'importance qu'a eu Marion Zimmer Bradley dans sa \u00e9volution en tant\r\nqu'autrice. Son premier r\u00e9cit publi\u00e9 est <i>Faust's SASE<\/i> qui para\u00eet\r\nen 1999 dans <i>Scavenger's Newsletter<\/i>, tandis que son premier roman,\r\n<i>Fires of the Faithful<\/i>, sort en 2002. Ses premiers textes rel\u00e8vent \r\nprincipalement de la fantasy et ce n'est que plus tard qu'elle aborde la \r\nscience-fiction. Le r\u00e9cit <i>The Wall<\/i> est vainqueur du prix des \r\nlecteurs d'<i>Asimov's<\/i> en 2013 et sa nouvelle <i>Des photos de chats, \r\nSVP<\/i> remporte les prix Hugo et Locus en 2016. En 2021,  c'est <i>Little \r\nFree Library<\/i> qui obtient le prix Locus de la meilleure nouvelle, en 2023 <i>Dragon Project<\/i> celui du  WSFA Small Press for Short Fiction et en 2024 <i>The Year Without Sunshine<\/i> celui du Nebula et celui du Hugo pour la meilleure novelette, tandis que <i>Better Living Through Algorithms<\/i> remporte le Hugo de la meilleure nouvelle avant le Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire en 2025.
