\r\nSes grands-parents  se sont rencontr\u00e9s pendant la Seconde Guerre\r\nmondiale. Son grand-p\u00e8re \u00e9tait un GI am\u00e9ricain et sa grand-m\u00e8re\r\nvivait \u00e0 Nancy, sous l'occupation allemande. Elle a grandi avec des\r\nhistoires terrifiantes de nazis faisant irruption dans les maisons,\r\ntirant sur les gens dans la rue, de combats d'avions au-dessus de la\r\nville et de l'interrogatoire de son arri\u00e8re-grand-p\u00e8re par les SS.\r\nM\u00eame si aujourd\u2019hui elle ne se souvient plus de ces histoires que\r\npar bribes, leur influence se fait sentir dans ses r\u00e9cits o\u00f9 la\r\nguerre joue souvent un r\u00f4le primordial.<\/p> \r\n<p style=\"margin-left: 30px;margin-top: 10px;margin-bottom: 10px\">\r\nElle a obtenu une licence en \u00e9tudes historiques \u00e0 l'universit\u00e9 d'Alaska\r\nFairbanks et un master \u00e0 d'Universit\u00e9 de KwaZulu-Natal \u00e0 Durban,\r\nAfrique du Sud, o\u00f9 elle s\u2019est sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9e dans l'histoire des\r\nmouvements de r\u00e9sistance sud-africains. Apr\u00e8s son retour aux\r\n\u00c9tats-Unis, elle a v\u00e9cu \u00e0 Chicago pendant quatre ans avant de\r\ns'installer \u00e0 Dayton dans l\u2019Ohio. Si elle consid\u00e8re Bel Dame Apocryphia\r\nprincipalement comme une s\u00e9rie de science-fiction (de m\u00eame que\r\nisfdb.org, par exemple), elle avoue ne s'\u00eatre gu\u00e8re appesantie sur\r\nune justification scientifique de l'existence des x\u00e9nomorphes ou de\r\nla manipulation de ph\u00e9romones par les magiciens pour commander les\r\ninsectes. \u00c0 l'inverse, Worldbreaker Saga, s\u00e9rie de fantasy (si on\r\nen croit isfdb.org), se situe dans un monde o\u00f9 les gens tirent leur\r\nmagie des \u00e9toiles, des satellites en orbite.
